Microsoft Surface Tablets – Preview, Features, Specs, and Pricing

Microsoft has recently revealed a new Windows 8 powered tablet to mark its embrace in tablets market. The market which is currently dominated by the Apple iPad and few Android tablets. But now it seems that Apple iPad is soon going to get a real competitor.

Microsoft Surface is an out of the box device which is designed to achieve the highest mark of perfection by using significant advances made in industrial design. The innovative design of Surface is an example of delivering the best to its users without compromise.

Microsoft Surface will come in two different models i.e. Surface RT and Surface PRO. Both the models have been developed by keeping the requirements of perspective consumers in mind. Surface RT will run on NVIDIA Tegra 3+ ARM chip with Windows 8 RT version on it, whereas Surface PRO will have Intel Core i5 third generation processor and runs Professional version of Windows 8.

Surface for Windows RT will release with the general availability of Windows 8, and the Windows 8 Pro model will be available about 90 days later. Both will be sold in the Microsoft Store locations in the U.S. and available through select online Microsoft Stores.

Microsoft Surface is entirely conceived, designed and engineered by Microsoft employees. Let’s talk about the design and features of Microsoft Surface tablet.

Follows all Industry Standards: Surface sports a full-sized USB ports and has 16:9 aspect ratio – the industry standard for HD in its 10.6” display. It has edges angled at 22 degrees, a natural position for the PC at rest or in active use, letting the hardware fade into the background and the software stand out.

VaporMg: The outer body of Surface is created by using a unique approach called VaporMG. It is a combination of material selection and process to mold metal and deposit particles that create a finish akin to a luxury watch. Magnesium is mainly used to mold the parts as thin as .65 mm, thinner than the typical credit card, to create a product that is thin, light and rigid/strong.

Integrated Kickstand: The unique VaporMg approach also enables a built-in kickstand that lets you transition Surface from active use to passive consumption – watching a movie or even using the HD front- or rear-facing video cameras. The kickstand is there when needed, and disappears when not in use, with no extra weight or thickness.

Touch Cover: The 3 mm Touch Cover works using a unique pressure-sensitive technology, Touch Cover senses keystrokes as gestures, enabling you to touch type significantly faster than with an on-screen keyboard. It will be available in a selection of vibrant colors. Touch Cover clicks into Surface via a built-in magnetic connector and works as a protective cover.

With all these innovative design standards, Microsoft Surface is surely going to attract the masses of tablet market. Now, we are going to discuss about the tech specs of both the models of Microsoft Surface in detail.
