How to Set AutoPlay Defaults on Windows 7

If you have frequent work with memory card, CD/DVD, pen drive and other drives then you might be plug-in or plug-out your devices many times. So if you are on among those people who insert/remove pen drives and CDs then AutoPlay would be a better option for your and could save your time. In general AutoPlay for Windows OS defines what happens when you insert each type of media or device.

Although I don’t find AutoPlay useful, atleast to me, maybe useful to you in cases. In this guide you will learn on how to autoplay defaults in Windows 7. Setting up Autoplay for media when they are connected to your PC, you can directly open your DVD or start ripping your CDs without telling the same to your PC each time.

Setting up Autoplay Default in Windows 7

To set up autoplay default in Windows 7 operating system, follow the below steps –

  1. Click on Start and type auto and then click on Autoplay. The actual location of AutoPlay is Hardware and Sound under Control Panel.
  2. When Autoplay screen comes up, select which programs you would like to do for each media types. Something it would be like this –Windows 7 AutoPlay
  3. When you are done click on Save.
